This camera was first announced back in June, but it hadn’t gained a lot of traction until recently. Basically, the camera takes pictures in such a way, that the entire light field is recorded, and then the focus came be adjusted after the picture has been taken. The camera has a great design, a distinctive name, and I think it will be a hit with consumers when it launches.
I also wonder whether recording video on this type of camera will be possible in the near future. Because if that could be done, I think that this camera could be a total game changer. Especially with technologies like Kinect gaining steam. Being able to affect focus of video playback is one application of such a marriage of technology.
